Early Mobility Bundles

Healthcare Bundles Bring It All Together

Think of a care bundle as you would a check list. They bring together everything needed for patient care in a way that provides improved outcomes than when done alone. The Institute of Healthcare Improvement created the very first ones in early 200118.

A prominent example is the ABCDE bundle by Vasilevskis et al, designed to counter delirium and weakness.19 In it we find a safe and efficacious20 bundle:

  • Awakening and
  • Breathing
  • Coordination,
  • Delirium monitoring, and
  • Early mobility / exercise.
